Glasgow family photography session in bellahouston park

I met Becca, Jonathan and their two boys Daniel and Rory for an outdoor family photography session at one of their most visited sunny day spots, Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park. The boys had a ball, running around and playing on their favourite slides and swings. These photographs of Daniel make me think of the Roald Dahl quote about how you know a smile is authentic when the eyes are smiling too. If you could bottle these smiles you’d be smiling forever!

Candid family moments

Becca was keen to capture some candid moments in a natural environment that gave the boys space to be themselves. They played on their favourite rainbow bridge, Daniel pushed his little brother on the swings, and they partook in their favourite activity, spotting planes (dad Jonathan is a pilot!)

Mother and son photography

I caught this lovely candid moment between mother and son. Daniel wanted his mum to climb into the frame with him and, illuminated by glimmers of sunlight, they squeezed in tight for a hug, authentic and unposed.

Natural family photography

Speaking of posed, we did want to get some photographs with all four family members in them. Anyone with two or more children will know the difficulty of achieving a frame-worthy photograph of all family members together (I, as a mother of two, know this myself). Which is why we prioritised capturing everyone indulging in some serious horseplay (those smiles are real).

Love is in the air

On my way to meet Becca, Jonathan and their boys, I spotted this bench beside the playground on which someone had painted “Love” and immediately identified it as a photo opportunity.

Fun at the park

Thank you for inviting me to document your family Becca and Jonathan!
